Sailing is now underway
Pointscore racing for yachts is now underway which has been strongly welcomed by sailors. Just a reminder that the onus is on skippers to comply with the ever changing COVID restrictions. Now that travel restrictions on Sydney & Central Coast residents has been lifted, we are able to welcome back a few more boats and crews.
QR Codes & Membership
Skippers are reminded that all sailors Skippers & Crews need to sign on with the club QR code (not services NSW code) on each race day. The code can be found on the club website but also on the back cover of this year’s sailing program booklet.
It is the skipper’s responsibility to ensure everyone has signed on (NOR 3.2) using the club QR codeand also that all crew are current financial members (NOR 3.8& RRS46).
These rules apply equally to Twilight races, as they do to Saturday racing.
She Sails (Ladies Race)
The She Sails race is a race where women are asked to steer a yacht. It is open to sailors from all clubs and after the success of last year’s race it was decided to run 3 races, one at LMYC, one at RMYC & one at Wangi. These will all be handicap starts and will be held on the following Sunday afternoons.
Jan16 at LMYC (not 7 Nov) Feb 13 at RMYC Mar 20 at Wangi
Further information regarding NOR, SI’s and entry process will be available soon.
Sailing Club Booklet
The Booklet and Course sheets are blue in colour this year, so please dispose of last year’s pink documents to avoid confusion, as there have been some changes. We have plenty of supplies of the booklet along with laminated course sheets which can be collected from the sailing club on any race day just prior to the start.
Category 7 Inspections & Insurance
Yachts owners are reminded they need to get their safety inspections done. Once completed the form along with a copy of your boat insurance needs to be forwarded to the PRO (Phil Mayo).
Anyone still requiring a Cat 7 inspection should contact Jim Gillan (0427 322 176).

The next leg is in Sydney on Fri 17 & Sat 18 December.
Several local sailors will be competing, including Tom Slingsby steering & Kyle Langford on wing on the Australian boat, Nathan Outteridge steering the Japanese boat, and Iain Jensen on wing and new Wangi resident Luke Parkinson on flight control on the British boat.
I believe quite a few Wangi Sailing Club members have booked to go and watch the action on the Saturday on Shark Island.
