About the Club
The clubhouse is at 269 Watkins Road Wangi, adjacent to the Wangi RSL Club. It has boat storage, toilets, showers below, and a hall upstairs with a kitchen, tables, chairs, and audiovisual equipment. The hall can also be hired out for functions. The Club also owns several powerboats used for club racing and regattas.
Membership
All sailors wishing to participate in club events must join the Sailing Club and RSL Club. The Sailing Club holds regular monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of the month, and all members are welcome to attend. Meetings commence at 19:00 at the club.
Racing
Whether you're drawn to the exhilaration of yacht racing, the fun of social events, or the laid-back charm of radio-controlled yacht racing, we have something for everyone. Our racing program features weekly races on Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends, plus exciting regattas like our Australia Day Regatta, which attracts sailors from far and wide.
Our sailing year kicks off on the first Saturday in September with an Open Day and Registration—your chance to explore our facilities, meet members, and join the club. The Spring and Summer series starts the following Saturday and runs through Easter. Once we move the clocks forward, the Wednesday afternoon racing begins, as do the Friday Twilight Sundowner races, which continue until Daylight Savings time is finished. Then it's the winter racing series starting in May and running through August, with racing happening every Wednesday afternoon and Saturday. Safety and Compliance
All boats racing at the Club must comply with all the rules and safety requirements in the attached Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.
Learn to Sail
The Club holds Learn to Sail classes for junior sailors when there is demand (normally from October through Christmas or in the summer). In addition to sailors bringing their boats, the Club has several boats (Lasers and Sabots) for use during the program.
Social Functions
Several social activities are held during the year, and members are most welcome to participate. Some of these events are listed in the attached program. Dates may change; however, this will normally be communicated in the club newsletter or by email. The Wangi RSL Club also presents prizes after home races on Saturday, Wednesday, and Friday. Come and join us anytime.
