About the Club

The clubhouse is situated at 269 Watkins Road Wangi adjacent to the Wangi RSL Club and has boat Storage, toilets and showers below, as well as a hall upstairs with kitchen, tables, chairs, and audio visual equipment. The hall is also hired out for functions. The Club also owns a number of power boats used to conduct club racing and regattas.

Membership

All sailors wishing to participate in club events are expected to join both the Sailing Club and RSL Club. The Sailing Club holds regular monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of the month and all members are welcome to attend. Meetings commence at 19:00 at the club.

Racing

The Club caters for the “Off The Beach” (OTB) classes such as OK Dinghies, Lasers, NS14s and Catamarans which race on Saturday afternoons and Sabots which race Saturday mornings.
In addition to the OTB classes, the club runs races for Keel boats, Trailer Sailors and larger Multihulls (Yachts).


The Club’s sailing season starts on the first Saturday in September and continues through to Easter each year, and is broken down into a Spring & Summer point score. The club also conducts winter sailing for Yachts, usually commencing in May through to August as well. The winter racing alternates week about with the Achenar series (spinnakers) and the Commodores Cup series (non spinnakers).


In addition to the normal Saturday racing, Yachts run twilight races during daylight saving on a Friday afternoon as well as mid-week racing on Wednesday afternoons.
The Trailer Sailor fleet also run a further series once a month on a Saturday & Sunday broken down into a spring , summer & winter series.

Safety and Compliance

All boats racing at the Club have to comply with all the rules and safety requirements as set out in the attached Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.

Learn to Sail

The Club holds Learn to Sail classes for junior sailors which normally start in October and run through to Christmas. In addition to sailors bringing along their own boats, the Club also has a number of boats (Lasers & Sabots) for use during the Learn to Sail program.

Social Functions

A number of social activities are held during the year to which members are most welcome. Some of these events are listed in the attached program. Dates may change however this will normally be communicated in the club newsletter or by email. There is also a presentation of prizes in the RSL Club after home races on Saturday’s Wednesday’s & Friday’s.
