Winter Racing Starting

With the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions, we are now able to start sailing. Yacht racing will commence this Saturday, with a free non pointscore race starting at 1pm. Sailors are reminded to advise the PRO, Phil Mayo of the names and contact numbers of all crew on board prior to the start. (email or text) Also ensure you comply with current COVID-19 restrictions as previously advised, including using hand sanitizers before and after sailing, keeping 1.5 metres apart where practical and encouraging activating COVID-19 App before racing. Winter Solstice Dinner

Unfortunately, the annual Winter Solstice dinner which is set down for Saturday 20 June has to be cancelled. Under the current COVID-19 restrictions, we are not allowed to bring a dish and share meals as we have done in the past and maintaining social distancing could be a problem, so to be on the safe side we have decided to cancel this year’s dinner.

New WASC Constitution

The draft of the new constitution is nearly complete. It is currently being reviewed by our lawyers to ensure it is workable and legally compliant, prior to distribution to members.

Membership Fees

As we have not been able to hold a May general meeting of the club where membership fees are discussed and in light of the current situation, the Executive have decided to keep membership fees basically the same as last year.

Next Season’s Sailing Program

Thanks for the feedback via your fleet captains regarding courses, SI’s and the calendar, which will be taken on board when formulating the draft Sailing Program for next season. Those comments affecting inter club yacht races will be passed on to the relevant combined club committees as well.

This is not cancelled, merely postponed to a later date and will depend on COVID-19 restrictions changing further.
