Commodore’s Call
January 2020
I hope you had a nice Christmas and a safe New Year despite the horrendous fires that devastated so much of the country. We were quite lucky being surrounded by so much water, however there were some bad fires quite close and plenty of smoke. A huge thanks to all the fire fighters for such a magnificent job done.
Fireball Nationals
Our Club hosted the Fireball Nationals over the Christmas New Year period. Even though it was a relatively small fleet the racing was of quite a high standard. Once again, our team of club volunteers did a first-class job of running the event, both on and off the water. Well Done!
Other Regattas
A number of our sailors travelled to National Championships around the country representing our sailing club and for many of the youngers sailors it was the first time they had competed at this level, so well done to you all.

Australia Day Weekend
LMCC has organized a bit of a fun day on the foreshore at Wangi and Rathmines on Saturday (25 Jan) culminating with fireworks later in the evening. The Sailing Club has agreed to run a fund-raising sausage sizzle after the Saturday club race, from 5pm. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Australia Day Regatta
Once again WASC is hosting the Australia Day regatta which is open to all Yachts, Trailer Sailors and large Multihulls including boats from other clubs. Racing will start at around 12 noon with 3 slightly different length course to suit different sized boats. We have a great array of prizes and these will be presented in the RSL beer garden after the race, along with a sausage sizzle. Please get your entries in ASAP. Check the website for further details including NOR and SI’s.
Ladies Day
This will be held on Sunday 2nd of February starting at 2pm with a handicap start. It is a non-spinnaker race where the girls get a chance to show their skills on the helm. After racing we will have a relaxing BBQ back at the Sailing Club. Please get your entries in soon. Further details are on the club website.
