Commodore’s Call August 2022
Thank you to the members of the club that have accepted Board and Officers positions. Without the help of the volunteers the club would not function. I would also like to thank Steve Churches for acting as the Returning Officer at our recent AGM and Kate for taking the minutes.
We are still looking for someone to assist as the Trophy officer so if anyone is interested, please come forward.
Open Day 3rd September
Open day will kick off at 10:00am with an egg and bacon roll accompanied by a glass of bubbles followed by a sail pass and an informal race starting at 12:00. The cost will be $10 each. Tickets for the event are on this link open day tickets
On the opening Day we will all receive a new club booklet and new course sheets.
We will be presenting the winter trophies will and the donation of $10,000 to the Cancer Council from the funds raised at the Commodores Ball.
New Sailing Year
Our membership fees and entry fees will be live on Rev Sport on the opening day. The fees are set at the same price as last year.
Our Spring Series starts with the scratch series on the 10th of September
Wednesday sailing kicks off on the 5th of October
Friday night Twilight starts on the 7th October
Please get your RKR and interclub entries in ASAP to allow time for the entries to be processed
There are changes in the SI’s and courses so please read them. The following Marks have also been moved. Secret Bay has been repositioned to Little Wangi, Pelican has been moved 600m South, Rathmines has been moved to 300m north of LMYC fishing point mark. New course sheets will be available at the opening day and are on the Web Site.

Our inspectors have offered for inspections to be carried out on our open day 3rd September.
Rules nightThursday 25thAugust, 7pm
Wangi Sailing club is holding a short talk on the Racing Rules of Sailing by Damian Boldyrew who is an International Juror with extensive rules experience. The talk will cover the basic rules that you need to know to go racing and keep out of trouble
Members from other clubs to come along as well and the evening is completely free of charge.
BYO refreshments
Working Bee Saturday 27th August, 10am
There will be a working bee at the club house to clean and organize the equipment, anyone that can spare a couple of hours please come along.
Upcoming Regatta – NSW Youth Championships October long weekend
We are still a couple of people short. Anyone that is interested in assisting with this regatta please phone Tony Outteridge (0423 521 551).
National Race Officer Course 27th and 28th August
Australian Sailing will be holding a couple of Race Officer courses, which it intends to subsidize for members of Wangi South Lake & Mannering Park clubs. One course is a half day Club Race Officer course and the other is a State / National Level Race Officer course over 2 consecutive Sundays.
