Winter Yacht Sailing

This commences on Saturday 30 April with the Achinar series (scratch start, spinnaker & non spinnaker) and alternates each week with the Commodores Cup (handicap start & non-spinnaker only). Please lodge your entries online via the club website.

Sailing Club Presentation Night

This is set down for Saturday 21 May (election day) at the Wangi RSL Club. Further details will be provided soon, and tickets will shortly be able to be purchased online via the club website.

Commodores Ball

Wangi Sailing Club hosted the Commodores Ball last Saturday at the Rathmines Theater as a fund raiser for Cancer Research. The event was sold out well in advance with over 100 guests and was a great night.

Thanks to our MC Scott Bevan and our special guest Iain Jensen for share his sailing success story and his battle with cancer.Thanks also to Adina Wines for the lovely wines, The Deck Café Lovedale and our own Stefan Schelbert for the fantastic food, and to Racheal Collins for organising all the young wait staff from Wangi Netball Club & Morisset High School. Thanks to Inspired Productions for providing all the lighting and the awesome band Milestone, who played some great music. To all the people that donated prizes for raffles or auction and to all those that put in a lot of time organising, setting up and then packing up, thank you all very much.Finally,a big thanks to Lake Mac City Council that provided the great venue and helped with some sponsorship.

She Sails Race

The final “She Sails” race for yachts for the season was held on Sunday 20 March at Wangi. Although the number of visiting yachts was lower than expected racing was still of a high standard.Congratulations to Wangi’s Emily Fatches in Misguided who ended up winning the overall series.

Moth States

Thanks to all those that helped at the Moth States. Despite the weather, we successfully got 7 races in. Congratulations to Wangi sailor Iain Jensen who won the event in a star-studded field.

Race Officer

Phil Mayo has decided not to stand as race officer next season after many years of very appreciated volunteering. A big thanks for all your efforts Phil.

As a result, we are seeking some people that maybe able to spend a few hours a week to help start races and or record finish times. This is not a difficult job and Phil would be happy to help you get started. So, if you or anyone you know, maybe able to assist please contact Phil.

Club Meeting

As the April meeting falls very close to the Easter weekend,we have decided tocancel the meeting. Therefore, our next meeting will now be on Thursday 12 May
