Junior Sailing

Junior Racing

Junior racing provides a positive environment for kids to develop their sailing skills. We have on water coaching to assist the kids when needed. Junior racing sailors should turn up each week, even if it is raining, too windy or no wind. If weather conditions are not suitable for sailing, we will attempt to notify you of the race cancelation the day before.

Junior racing briefings are at 10.05am with the first race starting around 10.30am.

Junior racing sailors will get Sailing Instructions in their information package – please read them and especially the “road rules” of sailing!

Check your boats to make sure they are ready for the new season – ropes, stay-wires, shackles etc… and that you have all your gear ready. Be sure to check the safety equipment – bailer, lifejacket, tow-rope. Remember the first months in spring can be quite cold – make sure you bring warm clothes and warm gear to change into after you sail.

Please register and pay your membership and point-score race fees online now. Due to the Covid lockdown Junior racing will commence the weekend after we are legally allowed to run organised sport, 2021.

We want to make sailing fun for everyone! The canteen will be operating each week with drinks, snacks and lunch available. There is plenty to do each week, so come and get involved - we welcome any new helpers especially getting the boats in an out of the water and in the rescue boats. We look forward to a great sailing season.

We ask that the parents of kids playing to register for junior sailing this season to please email Joel Skelton so that we can track numbers and ensure we have enough resources to cater.
